Some progress

Writing
It took some relocation of workspace (coffeeshop rather than home) but I finally got some writing done today. I’m up to chapter 7 in Natural Rebirth (sequel to Natural Order) which is a start at least.

Okay, I’ve gotten to chapter 6 in my work on Natural Rebirth, the sequel to Natural order. That puts me at…

I figure if I can pull off one chapter a day I can have the rough draft finished by the end of March. Beta schedules allowing, that’d means it’d be ready to head off to the publisher by end of summer. I’m hopeful that edits for Worlds Collide begin about then, so that’d be good timing.

I’m months behind on getting Shadow Magic out to the publisher, and I’m thinking I can’t wait any longer for the last beta’s notes since that’s the reason the submission is so far behind. Soon as I finished this synopsis (I hate doing synopsis) off it’ll go.

Natural Order
Okay, I finally got through the publishers edits (first run anyway) for Natural Order and sent those back, and am now looking at Shadow Magic (sequel to Ancestral Magic), and thinking it may be ready to be submitted to the publisher. This sinus infection is still killing me, but I have to get this done. If all goes well I’m be starting on Natural Rebirth (sequel to Natural Order) this week and hopefully that’ll be ready to send in by Wiscon time this May. I’ve scanned my short story submissions list, and I think the queer sci fi call from Queer Fiction, and the f/f wedding bit may be all I tackle this week. Those are due round the end of the month.

As much as I’d like to have stuff out in anths so that I have more name recognition with folks, I don’t want to stretch myself too thin. I have a novel I’d like to have ready for the Wiscon writers workshop, so that means it has to be ready to go by mid next month. It’s mostly written (Bloodstained Innocence) but I’m thinking if it want it to really have a shot at mainstream markets I have to make some hefty revisions which takes time. I had great comment from reader on the possible openings to be used, and I think the Chi one won out over all. That also means I need to look carefully at the numbers of POV scenes, adding some in Chi’s POV to even things out. That’ll be the hardest part I think.

Update on Bloodstained Innocence: Okay I've moved stuff around and I don't think I have to add as many Chi POV scenes as I though, and the ones I do have to add I am completely seeing how they fit in (yea!). So, this will be far less painful than I thought. Hurrah for Moontime creative juju! Right now Bloodstained Innocence is at over 65k and I'm thinking it'll be closer to 70k or even 80k when I'm finished with the revisions.

Hecate
Now I know for many of you the new year comes the first of January, but for people of the Dianic tradition and many others who have ties to Celtic heritage the festival on October 31st marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the new year. Within my own Cherokee heritage this time of year is also seen as a time to turn inward, to prepare for the coming winter and for a time of dark and quiet when families come together to tell stories and to suggle safe from the cold. For these reasons and more I find this time of year a comforting time to look within and seek the paths I wish to take in the coming year.

TT ahead )

WIP Updates

Don't Panic
Okay here’s the deal. In the hopes of bringing in not only a bit of extra cash but also getting my name out there to direct readers to my novel coming out (end of this year I hope) I have put Natural Rebirth aside so I can work on some short story for upcoming call and novellas. Have no fear, for as soon as edits come in for Natural Order (or before) I will continue my work on the sequel again.

What was Primal Magic and is now called Shadow Magic is one it’s last betas and soon to be off to the publisher. Same can be said for Bloodstained Innocence which I am happy to say is much better for the extensive rewrites. Soon too that will be going to the publisher. With any luck that will be two more contracts.

Nanowrimo is coming in a couple weeks and I have narrowed my choices of projects to two, one of which I am leaning toward more because it’ll take less research to pull off. My muse has been hard at work and even danced with me this week so we could create an intense western erotica piece for a anthology call due end of the month. Ad long as I keep my muse happy and the part time work I am still hunting for doesn’t suck up my creative juices, there’s several more calls I think I can pull off this year still and into next.
