26-year-old actor Matt Smith was anointed as the eleventh Doctor Who this week. If you were in charge of casting, who would you cast as your ideal Doctor and why?

I admit I was really hoping for Paterson Joseph. I've long been tired of the monocromatic nature of the show, and even with the short lived Martha (whom I adored) that still bothered me. I know the show says that color played no role in casting, and they weren't resisant to a black doctor, but from what I've seen of Matt Smith I am having a hard time seeing why he was "the best man for the role". Paterson Joseph would have brought me back to watch the show after David Tennant (my fav since Tom Baker left the show) left, Matt Smith holds no such draw for me.
